Adding a ‘Share’ social network button to your website – a welcome to Facebook, Twitter users
Easily share your website information on the social networks using a free ‘Share’ button from www.addthis.com
Something I’ve been toying with for a few months on other projects, and its working really well, is a ‘Share’ button for the social networks, embedded right into your website.
When clicked the Share button shows a list of sites to share with:

It lets your visitors quickly share something from your website on FaceBook, Twitter, Myspace etc, without leaving your website, as this screenshot (right) from the Ten Things You Can Do To Change The World website show.
Share button = easy syndication
Make it easier for your visitors to share your website news and information, and they will.
As part of our pro-active marketing of new online features for our clients, here’s an excerpt from an email I sent to Nathan from Katapult Design describing the Share feature:
I’ve been reading your News page avidly over the past few months, and a couple of times
wanted to share something cool (like the Solar Leaves!) on Facebook, but it was too much
of a hassle to do it, so I haven’t yet… the Share button makes it that much easier.
Take a look at these two websites we are using Share button on already:
www.tenthingsyoucando.com
www.theburningseasonmovie.com
and look for the ‘Share’ button at the bottom of the page.
And its free
Anyone can use the Share button on their website, its free, collects data on how many people shared your website pages, what pages they shared, and on what network (Facebook, Twitter etc).
